Smart Moves Training

Thought Provoking; Inspiring; Reflective.

Get the most out of Smart Moves

The Smart Moves Teacher Guide is designed to enable you to 'pick up and go' with your Smart Moves sessions. However, what we know is crucial to the impact on the lives of young people is... you! The person delivering Smart Moves has the power to make it really useful and incredibly powerful (no pressure then!)

Therefore on these pages we want to help you understand more about the approaches that underpin the delivery; the 'how to' of Smart Moves so that you can make it the best for your young people. The resources and videos have been designed to inspire you, to get you thinking and reflecting about what resilience is.

The information here is also useful if you want to train your staff team in how to use this material.

Objectives of this training

  • Understand the importance of resilience and how to develop it

  • Understand the background and context of the Smart Moves Programme

  • Become familiar with content and delivery style of the Smart Moves Programme

  • Be fully prepared to deliver the Smart Moves Programme

Start with you!

Smart Moves Original is an inclusive programme for all year 6 and 7 classes. We can never be ‘resilient enough’ and nor can we prevent or predict difficulties and challenges young people may face. Therefore Smart Moves supports young people to find their own answers around what resilience means to them.

In order to facilitate this, we would like to invite you first of all to take time to reflect on the material included and how it relates to your own resilience in order for you to develop your own understanding and skills around the subject.

Where is the training material?

You can access all the resources on the resources page and watch the videos below.

Please order your packs of student books and teacher guides or view them here before you start. It will be helpful to reference them as you complete the training.
